• Welcome to my portfolio.

    CECI GOMEZ-GALVEZ

  • PROFILE

I’m the leader of an ELL support program based on support practices within a sheltered immersion philosophy and the use of differentiation strategies. An approach which gives all learners, regardless of their language level, the opportunity to succeed in rigorous curricula in international school settings.

I’m a collaborator, consultant and coach who empowers educators to create learning opportunities to suit all language learners' needs.

I’m an innovator who effectively integrates eLearning tools and the practice of 21st century skills that have enhanced learning across all divisions for ELLs and all students.

  • TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I believe it is our responsibility as educators to be advocates for the learning of all students regardless of their language level or learning style.

  • EXPERIENCE

    EAL Coordinator | Team Leader

Shekou International School, Shenzhen, China | 2010-Present

My responsibilities as coordinator and team leader have included:

    • scheduling and coordinating regular team meetings to discuss student progress, teacher schedules, reporting and admissions matters across divisions

    • keeping abreast of current trends and practices in second language learning; facilitating implementation of changes as needed to strengthen and balance the school’s ELL support model

    • updating and informing parents on aspects of the EAL program by maintaining transparency about the support given to ELLs at the different divisions

I have also led our team into integrating eLearning tools to support ELL development as well as embed the WIDA can-do framework to both assess and report on our ELL population.

In addition to my duties as coordinator, I’ve organized two highly successful EAL conferences for the region. With the support of my team, we’ve hosted more than 100 participants at each conference. For more information on the events, see the 'Conferences' section below.
